# What is Placeful?

**Placeful is a booking platform for venues** — restaurants, event spaces, tours and experiences — that combines reservations, a visual floor plan, ordering and staff management in one product. Companies get a public booking page at `/book/{company}` and an embeddable widget for their own website.

## Who it is for

- **Venues** that take reservations: restaurants, bars, tasting rooms, tour operators, event spaces.
- **Teams** with different roles: owners, admins, managers, members and floor staff (employees) each get a scoped view.
- **Guests** who book online — no account needed for a simple reservation — and can order from a table QR code.

## What it does

- **Bookings** — dated events with capacity, booking windows, seat/time configurations and direct area booking; a state machine tracks every reservation from pending to paid, refunded or no-show.
- **Venue map** — a drawn floor plan with areas and physical tables; bookings pin to one or more tables.
- **Widget** — a copy-paste embed (`<button>` + `<script>`) that renders the company's bookable calendar on any external site, localized.
- **Ordering** — menus, staff order pad, kitchen board with course firing, guest QR self-ordering and a daily cash drawer.
- **Payments** — Stripe Checkout for paid bookings; each company connects its own Stripe account and receives payouts directly (destination charges).
- **Staff** — roster, contracts, shift scheduling, tasks, timesheets, time-off and a voice radio for the floor.
- **Member app** — an installable PWA at `/m` with the day's bookings, the seating map, self-ordering and push notifications.
- **Waitlist** — sold-out events keep a FIFO queue; freed capacity offers the spot automatically.
- **API & integrations** — a versioned REST API (`/api/v1`), webhook-stable Stripe integration, Google Calendar mirroring and an MCP server for AI assistants.

## Pricing

Packages are published at `/pricing`. A free tier exists; paid tiers unlock ordering, stock, staff and priority support. There are **no per-booking commissions from Placeful** on the free package — paid packages may carry a flat + percentage platform fee handled through Stripe application fees.

## Availability

Placeful is a hosted SaaS — there is no self-hosted edition. The product and all public pages are available in English and Italian; company content is whatever language the company publishes in.
